Omarthis is completely out of place in this list, not only because it’s not Eldrazi even though it easily could have been, but it also doesn’t actually work as the deck’s commander either, because there’s only a small handful of cards that add +1/+1 counters in the list. And it’s not the only X spell in the deck. If you Cascade into Omarthis, it just dies instantly. Having X spells in a Cascade deck makes zero sense. Hall of Triumph is hard to make useful no matter where you put it, and Coat of Arms will buff your opponents creatures as well if they are using any kind of tribal mechanic.I’m just going to point this out here instead of waiting until the end. to put them in a deck that doesn’t focus on tokens. As I mentioned before, Vanquishers Banner and Door of Destinies are nice, but they do require a hard-casting of the creature to net you the draw so I would tend to put them in a deck that doesn’t focus on tokens. Keep in mind that artifacts are low hanging fruit for your opponents to remove so relying on them can cause you to overextend your strategy. ] might just be the better option here as opposed to artifact-based buffs. ] is a personal favorite of mine as it’s been errata’d to include Dinosaur in its creature type. On a similar note, ] might be the single most important card in the deck.įor Gishath, you’ll be more likely to actually hard-cast creatures so Vanquishers and Door can be good but aren’t integral to your success (you don’t need them if you don’t really feel like running them). Since you’ll be discarding a bunch once the deck starts moving I would suggest cards like ] to keep the train going.įor Krenko, you want to focus on multiplying the number of goblins you have and so ending the game with Eldrazi Monument, or better yet, ] would probably be a decent way to close the game out once you hit a critical mass of goblins. I’m going to put this out there now, but I’ve only lightly skimmed through your lists so if I name things you already have then I’m sorry! These are just some general thoughts on the content of your post.įor Varina, I think you’re better off focusing on giving your zombies some form of evasion (flying, deathtouch, etc.) as her ability is all about them getting in. Having any of your effects on a zombie body is best because they trigger your commander, (and noxious ghoul) and creatures are like the easiest thing in the game to get back if you do a massive draw/discard off the attack trigger I think some tribes are different, but zombies are one of the most well supported tribes in the game, and varina has great options. You have to cast a few spells for it to really get big and it doesn't usually help you until a turn after it comes out.Įldrazi monument is crazy, but not because of the+1/+1, because of the other effects. Vanquisher's banner is ok because it's card draw, and coat of arms gives a massive buff but something like hall of triumph I definitely don't think is worth a spot.Įven door of destinies isn't great. I can think of at least half a dozen anthem effects that are also on a body which is able to get Varina's attack trigger. Love this community and thanks for all the invaluable advice.įor zombies, and varina in particular, I'd be hesitant using artifacts or any non-zombie form of anthem. Including some often considered cards below, and hoping you all have some interesting thoughts on the manner to discuss!Īny other options are welcome too! I’m still fairly new to the game so there may be significantly more options missing from the above. I’m mainly considering this for a Varina Zombie tribal ( ), but also have a Krenko Goblin deck ( ) and a Gishath Dino deck ( ) that I’m curious about as well. I know that there are a number of factors that go into asking the question like this, particularly the creature type, speed of deck, etc., but I was wondering if there were any thoughts from the community at large on how to decide which artifact anthems are appropriate for which tribal.
